Unzipping Driver Files Before Installation
Driver files that are downloaded as ZIP folders must be unzipped (extracted) before they can be installed or used to update drivers. Windows cannot install drivers directly from a ZIP file.
A ZIP folder looks like a regular folder icon but with a zipper on it.
On Windows 10 and 11:
Double-click the ZIP folder to open it.
At the top of the window, under the Compressed Folder Tools tab, click Extract All.
Choose a location (such as your Downloads folder) and click Extract. On Older Versions of Windows:
If you don’t see the Extract All option, you may need to install a free ZIP utility such as 7-Zip or WinRAR to unzip the files.
Once extracted, you can then install the driver using Device Manager or by running the Setup.exe file inside the unzipped folder.
