Way 1 - Download the latest version of windows 8.1 update
Windows Update Client for Windows 8.1 and Windows Server 2012 R2: March 2016
Way 2 - Reset updates if it windows update wont work or crashes
Open the Start menu, and type cmd.
Right-click on the Command Prompt and choose Run as Administrator.
Type in and press enter after each line - net stop cryptsvc
net stop bits
net stop wuauserv
ren %systemroot%softwaredistribution softwaredistribution.bak
ren %systemroot%system32catroot2 catroot2.bak
net start cryptsvc
net start bits
net start wuauserv
Update drivers in device manager on windows 7.
