Installing Drivers Downloaded from the HP Website
After downloading drivers from the HP website, the file may look like a standard program. However, in many cases, it’s actually a self-extracting archive that simply unpacks driver files onto your computer.
Extract the files:
Double-click the HP driver file you downloaded.
The contents will usually be extracted to a folder on your C: drive, typically located at:
C:\SWSETUP
Automatic installation:
Sometimes, the driver will install automatically after extraction.
If it doesn’t, you’ll need to install it manually.
Manual installation via File Explorer:
Open the C:\SWSETUP folder.
Locate the newly created HP folder (they’re often numbered).
Inside, double-click the Setup.exe or Install.exe file to start the installation.
Manual installation via Device Manager:
Open Device Manager.
Right-click the device that needs a driver and select Update driver.
Choose Browse my computer for drivers.
Navigate to C:\SWSETUP, then select the correct numbered folder if there are multiple.
Follow the prompts to complete the installation.
